Basketball Cutting Board
Starting with a 1″-thick slab of cherry made for three edge-joined pieces, this b-ball lovers board once completed works well for both cutting and serving your favorite snacks during game time. The process involves applying cut-out segments to the cherry blank with double-faced tape, and then routing grooves between the segments using a guide bushing and a 1/4″ round-nose router bit. The grooves are then filled in with a black epoxy to create the basketball’s seams. The edges are rounded and optional feet added prior to applying a food-safe finish.
The finished product measures 1″-thick and 9 5/8″ in diameter (without the ball feet). To speed the process, add accuracy, and allow for making multiple basketball cutting boards, consider purchasing either the 1/4″ plywood or acrylic template set described and shown in the plan.
